Dear Mr. Sieff:

It is truly ages since I have had the privilege of seeing you and I do hope these lines will find you in good health.

If I am writing you today it is in regard to a book I have just completed on "Objectivity in Art" in which I have included a chapter on Boudin. In connection with this I am most anxious to reproduce the great painting you purchased from my firm many years ago "La Plage de Trouville".

If, as I hope, you will be good enough to grant me such permission, may I inquire whether you would prefer having it mentioned as Private Collection, London, that is anonymously, or with the caption, Collection I. Sieff, London.

Looking forward to hearing from you and hoping I may have the opportunity of seeing you again in the not too distant future,

I remain,

Yours very sincerely,

Germain Seligman
