My dear Mr. Seligman:

To come by any work of art -- however slight, through the knowledgeable hands of your own self and bearing the august imprimatur of your distinguished establishment, is especially gratifying to me.

I also want to tell you that I did enjoy our solitary interlude the other afternoon very much, and do hope that you will give me the pleasure of coming to the house some day at your convenience.

I only hope that my small "flirtation" with you, in this tiny business adventure between us, will not, at my advanced age in my presumed mellowed prudence, tempt me to so large an acquisition that I will not be able to afford it. Once upon a time, when I was very young, I bought a pretty, young girl a half-pound box of Park & Tilford chocolates. The small purchase resulted in that long and amiable, tyrannical marriage to the same young lady I have been enjoying well nigh these thirty-five years.

Sincerely yours,

P. S. My check for fifty-six dollars and sixty-five cents is enclosed.
