Dear Mr. Southam:
Upon my return to New York, I hasten to send you these few lines to tell you how much I appreciated the delightful hospitality you offered me. My trip to Ottawa remains an extremely pleasant memory and is centered around your attractive home, your two daughters - who were such charming hostesses - and your beautiful paintings:

I enjoyed so much the interesting chat I had with you and your keen love of art made it such an harmonious and pleasant visit.

May I also congratulate you in your capacity of President of the National Gallery of Canada?

I hope you will not fail to let me know when you are coming to New York, and please remind your daughters that I am looking forward to entertaining them in this great city.

With personal regards,

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligamann)
