Dear Mr. Straight;

Though I know that Theresa wrote you suggesting we discuss the matter of the

SPANISH PRIMITIVE, attributed to BERMEJO

on one of your visits to New York, and giving the background of my present frame of mind, I neverhhless [[nevertheless]] feel I should answer you inquiry as to the figure at which it would be available today.

Towards the estate of my late friend I have a moral responsibility - I repeat, purely a moral one - on account of which I felt that I should have a valuation established by a leading London auctioneer. the latter said, "around EUR 20,000". This figure, today about $40,000 should constitute, in my opinion, a basis for our talk.

Theresa and I are looking forward to your visit in the not-too-distant future.

With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
