December 21, 1935.

Dear Mr. Straus,

I thought of letting you know about a picture that we have just received on consignment which might interest you.

The picture belongs to a client who, within a few weeks wants to raise a certain sum, and the picture can be had now for a very attractive price. It is a work of Rogier van der Weyden which was on the market in 1927 at a price of $175,000. It was bought for a figure somewhat lower. The price we would have to have for it now is $48,000.

The painting is in the Destrée book; it was exhibited at the Chicago "Century of Progress" exhibition, and has - amongst others - a certificate by Dr. Friedländer.

I had the pleasure to show Mrs. Straus two magnificent Fragonard drawings - as a matter of fact, one of them is Fragonard's most famous work. I hope I will have a chance to show them to you also.

With the Compliments of the Season,

Kindly believe me

Yours sincerely,

(René Seligmann)
