Miss Nichols:

In the present state of feeling existing in the Parish of St. Charles I consider that your stay with Capt. Lee is working great harm to your reputation.

While you are not employed as Teacher your proper home is with your Mother.

This was the advice I gave you when you were at the office and I now repeat it with emphasis. I do not mean to cast any reflection upon the character of Capt. Lee, or to pronounce upon your innocence or guilt, but by continuing to live in the same house with him after discontinuing your school you give strength and currency to scandal.

Very Respectfully,

E.M. Wheelock
Lt. and Secty Board
