Sir :-
Your communication enclosing return of property pursuant to the requirements of Circular 1 Current Series from this office has this day been received, and in reply to the inquiries contained in the letter referred to, I would respectfully inform you that teachers under your charge will be held responsible to Jan for school material under their charge, reporting the same as often as in your opinion may seem proper, and you will make returns for the same to this office at the end of each month or soon thereafter as practicable.

Books, Slates, Charts, etc. when actually worn out and rendered useless may be expended. Certain kinds of school materials upon proper requisition may still be issued from this office, Such articles as are not on hand in this office must be purchased by the pupils, and orders for such articles forwarded to this office accompanied by the money (see enclosed list of prices) and proper direction for shipment will meet prompt and scrupulous attention.

Captain :-
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd inst.  and in answer thereto have to say that Mrs. Pease, Teacher at the colony under your charge should signify her intention to resign, and the date on which such resignation is to take effect in writing addressed to this office whereupon Special Order for her honorable discharge will at once be issued.

In the meantime I have succeeded in finding a most excellent male teacher to take her place, Mr R C Cloburne who will shortly report to you. I had the said teacher examined by the City School Directors under my charge who found him very competent and gave him certificate as 1st Assistant Teacher.
