New Orleans, May 16th 1865

General,
On Friday, 12th inst, the Superintendent of schools for coloured children, for the parish of St John the Baptist left bank, together with his family, composed of his wife, two grown daughters, + two small children, came + took possession as he claimed, by authority of the provost marshall of said parish, of the dwelling house of A. Deslonde Sr, together with the furniture contained therein; enacted from the servant in charge the keys of the armoire containing the household linen + made use of their contents.  Further, he took possession of a small building in the garden, situated at a short distance from the house, to be used as the school for coloured children; said building being too near the house to be used in such a manner without occasioning the utmost annoyance to the inmates.
Mr A. Deslonde Sr. has complied with all the orders, for the renewal of allegiance to the U.S. Government.
