Hotel Ritz, Paris
June 18, 1952

Dear Miss Tapissier:

I am sorry indeed that a series of trips, some of them unexpected, precluded my seeing you again before leaving Paris.

You have been so efficient in your research that I am wondering whether you would be good enough to take care of, a few more metters for me in the line of photographs and also ordering and acquiring certain documents and books.

The photographs I am particularly anxious to have are:

Houdon - marble bust of Sophie Arnold, Gift of Edgar Stern to the Musée de Louvre.

Houdon - marble bust of the Marquise de Jaucourt, Gift of David Weill to the Musée du Louvre.

Also, from the Moreau-Nelaton Collection (or exhibited in the rooms where that collection is shown):

Géricault - Sketch for the Radeau de le Meduse Scene de Bataille dans un paysage Scene du Deluge

Joseph Berger - Portrait of a young man (no title shown)

In connection with the photographs to be made, should negatives not exist. I was told that the photographer of the Bibliotheque National was particularly good. If I am mentioning this, it is because a photograph made recently by the Archives of a Germain Pilon statue in St. Denis was so bad that I could not use it, but on the other hand, as regards the sculptures by Houdon, they are so well known that I would not be surprised but what Braun or Giraudon had the negative.

Now, for another book I am working on, in which I am writing a chapter on the artistic activities of the Rothschild family, I am wondering whether you could secure the following:

Notice sur la vie et les travaux do Alphonse de Rothschild, Paul Richier, Dec. 19, 1908, Séance publique de L'institute, No. 25, Tome 78

Eulogy of Edmond de Rothschild, 1935, Ch. Widor, Bulletin de l'Academie des Beaux Arts
