Dear Mr. Walker:

Thinking that it might interest you, I want to let you know that we have been given for sale a pair of paintings from the Boston period of Gilbert Stuart and now belonging to one of the finest private collections in America.

These paintings, 28" x 24", represent Mr. and Mrs. Walker and were painted in Boston in 1807. Esther Montgomery, daughter of William and Rachel Harvey Montgomery of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was married in 1806 to Alexander William Walker. She died in Romney, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Her portrait is recorded in Lawrence Park's book "Gilbert Stuart", Vol. II, P. 783, and is reproduced in Lawrence Park's book "Gilbert Stuart", Vol. IV, P. 547, Pl. 876.

Alexander William Walker was born in Southwick Grove near Birmingham, England. As a young man he came to America and lived in Boston and Philadelphia. This portrait is recorded in Lawrence Park's book "Gilbert Stuart", Vol. II, P. 782, and is reproduced in Lawrnece [[Lawrence]] Park's book "gilbert Stuart", Vol. IV, P. 546, Pl. 875.

These portraits have come from the collections of Alexander William Walker, Alexander Walker Glass of Wilkinsburgh, Pennsylvania, A. W. Erickson, New York City, and Mrs. Diego Suarez.
