DEAR SENATOR: I am writing concerning the subcommittee's hearings scheduled to begin March 8 on the federally supported helicopter air service program. 
More directly, I should like to call your attention to the letter sent to you as chairman of the Aviation Subcommittee by Mr. Oren L. King, city manager of the city of Downey, Calif., dated February 26, 1965. I am in complete agreement with the comments made by Mr. King and with the resolution which he enclosed. 
Of course, I am hopeful of favorable consideration and recommendation by the subcommittee and any comments you may care to make concerning this matter will be greatly appreciated.

DEAR SENATOR MONRONEY: This is in reference to the hearing being held by the Aviation Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Commerce on the subject of whether the Government should continue, expand or limit the federally supported helicopter air service program.
The Burbank Chamber of Commerce emphatically supports the proposal of the Civil Aeronautics Board in its show-cause order of February 16, 1965,docket 15693, wherin the CAB proposes the permanency of Los Angeles Airways' helicopter service, and Federal support payments as required.
From 1960 through 1964, Los Angeles Airways has carried 14,011 passengers into the San Fernando Valley heliports, plus 541,576 pounds of animal and 2,945,659 pounds of air express.
Los Angeles Airways' helicopter service is not a luxury commuter service or a between-airport shuttle service, but it is a vitally necessary part of the national air transportation system - carrying thousands of people out of this area for connections with the world's airlines via Los Angeles International Airport to other points in California, to all airline points in the United States and to many worldwide points. Of equal important, industry and other air travelers now have direct access by air directly through to Burbank and other airline points in the United States, and the world.
Millions of dollars have been spent in locating industrial plants, etc.' contiguous to Los Angeles Airways' routes. Los Angeles Airways' helicopter service must be continued as a necessary part of local air service and the Nation's air transport system, and we strongly urge the expansion of such service for Burbank and for all of southern California.
