NEW YORK AIRWAYS BECOMES FIRST ALL TWIN-JET TURBINE HELICOPTER AIRLINE

New York Airways became the first all twin jet-turbine helicopter airline in 1962 with the addition of four Boeing Vertol 107 jet helicopters to its fleet, reports Robert L. Cummings, Jr., President of the airline.

Revenue passengers carried between LaGuardia, Newark, Idlewild, and the Wall Street Heliport numbered 194,290, an increase of 30 per cent [[percent]] over 1961, he said.

Since the Vertol 107 jets were introduced in July, 1962, New York Airways has increased its passenger volume 56 per cent [[percent]] over a similar period in 1961. During 1962, the 850,000th passenger was carried, and it is expected that the one millionth passenger will be carried in the spring of this year, Cummings said.
