move into American homes, SCIENCE CENTER NEW YORK promises to become a center for live TV shows in many fields of science and medicine. Closed TV circuits can pipe these events to overflow audiences in smaller auditoria in the building. Provision for scientific exhibits is possible for any groups demonstrating their scientific contributions.

SCIENCE CENTER NEW YORK will also house an adequate library, as well as a microfilm library, with office and work areas for the scholar and student of science. There will be a number of other auditoria, providing seating for from 200 to 400 persons, with other meeting rooms to permit simultaneous sessions by small groups for more intimate discussions and explorations of ideas and viewpoints, i.e., workshops and small conference groups. A banquet hall is also planned to accommodate nearly 1,000 diners at a time, yet divisible by sliding partitions for smaller groups, and served from completely modern kitchens and facilities by a catering service. Here, also, will be a lounge, a lobby and reception room, coat rooms, and other facilities. Other features are a restaurant accommodating several hundred persons, with an outside dining patio served by its own kitchen and connecting with dining-meeting rooms for groups of 40 to 150 persons. A garage for 300 cars will be located in the first basement.

The second basement will house the print shop. As has been previously stated, dissemination of scientific information is one of the most vital functions of The New York Academy of Sciences. Annually it publishes and distributes thousands of copies of conference proceedings, special bulletins, and other reports containing the explorations, ideas and suggestions which lead to significant scientific advances.

A great value of SCIENCE CENTER NEW YORK will be in providing facilities and the proper atmosphere for the exchange of ideas and learning. SCIENCE CENTER NEW YORK — a new cultural force in American society — can be created within three years.

No one can fully predict the benefits, the contributions to human progress. Certainly, the SCIENCE CENTER will become an intellectual crossroad of science, stimulating progress in many directions.

SCIENCE CENTER NEW YORK also will impress citizens, not only of New York, but throughout the world, with the value, the dignity of science and its significance in their lives.
