Dear Doris

This is a pleasant Sunday & not very cold 60° outside at 9 o'clock. The leaves are turning fast & covering the ground. Our rainy night seemed good to prevent fires. the flowers are not touched by frost yet. I picked a nice boquet yesterday afternoon, before the frost took the flowers in the bed out front. & sue(?) had the last of the tomatoes for dinner yesterday noon. & the apples never made into apple sauce before they spoilt also yesterday. She called up Frank Reynolds last night to tell him she would go to church if he would call for her Sunday morning. he said he would love to. she hasn't been since last August. the boy brings her Sunday Post now & leaves it between the doors where she puts the 15 cents in money the night before.

We have had corn chowder for two days & it has tasted good. Your cake with the brown sugar frosting has lasted ever since you went home. there is just one piece left. she made a layer cake yesterday with a chocolate frosting Saturday & a little scotch pudding for me. which will taste good. it seems good to sit up stairs front chamber to write my letter. I have just brought in two baskets of wood & thrown them down in the cellar so that when
