Brig Gen. Allan Rutherford
Supt. Bu. R.F and A.L. So. Dist.

General
I have the honor to forward to you the within contract with annexed papers and respectfully ask your opinion in regard to them. I made the contract with much hesitancy and then only with the understanding that I should refer the matter to you

The case of Bastardy is a clear case and since the order of Gen. Sickles is revoked I knew that his services would be sold for the maintenance of the child or I would not have allowed it to be done

He was very anxious that it should be done as he much preferred working for Mr. Hollingsworth than to go to uncertain parties. He has his victuals and his wife has half the cotton she can spin

Will you kindly give me your views in the matter and I ask respectfully that return to me the Agreement as it is my Office file

I have the honor to be General
Very Respectfully
Your obt Servant
