Stoughton March 27th 1949

Dear Doris

We are having a warm spell 60° early this morning. it was so warm yesterday I sat out on the porch in the afternoon. our neighbors were having their lawns raked over and burning their rubbish in their incinerators. the papers all said rain for the day so far its pleasant & sunny.

Last Friday they went over to Elizabeth Southworths in Needham to play cards and she had them come early to dinner. she had Phoebie Hill, Careta & Blanche Barry. Laura didn't go she teaches music lessons Friday. she gave them a wonderful party & because I couldnt go sent me a most beautiful boquet [[bouquet]] of snapdragons all colors, they were lovely. it was nice to be remembered. they will last a long time, I put them in a large earthen vase, which holds two quarts of water at least.


There are six autos out front and one would think there was a party going on in the neighborhood. I think one car is Pupelloes he has a new car I think he has traded cars with somebody it’s an old second hand one but much better than his was. over to Gowards they are washing theirs. The oldest girl is married & has a little infant. they all live together. his car is being cleaned & the youngest boy has an old car, then another older than him also lives with them then a still younger sister she is the
