Stoughton March 18th 1949

Dear Doris

A pleasant Sunday but cold aroun 20° early we had a teriffic gale all day yesterday & all night which brought us very cold weather after our light snow which cleared off early Friday morning. March has been our worst month usually February is.

Early yesterday morning Hazel Drake came over to tell us she turned on her water & it was impossible to shut it off, it was still a running they didn't know what to do, so we called up Lindelof and he came soon after & Hazel came over to tell us what he did just as he left before noon. this is what he did Mrs B took it down just as she told it to her. it made me nervous the rest of the day. he didn't come here as we told him to, so I dont know how much his bill will be. hope it wont be too large. theres always something to worry about.

Propello came over to borrow a ladder, he wanted to go up on the roof of his house, to fix it so to show pictures when he turned on the radio they could see & said he would have us come over to see them when he got it working. he slammed the ladder down in front of the bulkhead & left it there which lay there till the rain started just before it turned in to snow, so I went out & put it down cellar as I didn't want the old ladder to
