Dear Doris

After yesterdays cloudy morning it cleared towards night & became windy & very cold far below freezing with a light fall of snow early in the morning. we have robins, song sparrows, and wood peckers. early this morning I had a nice present from Lena, a package of Plastic Reversible table mats - 8 of them. all you have to do is just rub them over with a damp cloth, no other table cloth needed. I had a nice present from Gertrude Ballantine & lots of cards they still come long after my birthday. those yellow tulips the Brides sisters sent me are very showy 8 blossoms. Laura's apple juice is very tasty, we enjoyed it every day. I had a wonderful day didn't get too tired. Irma enjoyed looking over my cards. I never had so many sent me. Bertha London gave me a box of stationary, small sized paper, just right to say thanks for any little gift one wants to acknoledge where nothing else needs to be written.

I was going to do my washing to day but changed my mind it being so cloudy & cold. I washed a little Wednesday that mild sunny day but like to hand the clothes outside then they can drip & not make puddles on the porch floor.

Sunday she may go to church so if its a nice day I will wash & then I wont be in the way of the home work. Winnie Trollope is feeble and I would not be surprised if she had a sudden heart attack and died before he did. I guess he is more a great care for her. We managed to get some tripe for our dinner and & it tasted good. Propello got it for us he dont keep it he makes his money on wine I guess mostly although we did manage to get a
