Stoughton Jan. 23rd 1949

Dear Doris

Pleasant but cold around 36реж this morning Night before last we had a slight fall of snow & there is a little of it left enough to make slippery going. I have just done my weekly wash hung it on the porch where its safe from storm or wind.

She has gone to church its most time to look for them home, streets are all bare it is almost time for dinner to be started our back steps are very icy so I sprinkled ashes over them before going out with my ashes this morning which made them safe.

The snow is going off slowly by the sun, just above freezing, so far we cannot complaine as we have not had much of the dam stuff. hope we dont get much more.

I forgot to tell you that Addie Ballantine sent you a
book by her brother Tom, in regard to painting, cant see much to it of anything you would care about. guess she wants to be friendly with someone. but very few friend have they in Stoughton I am sorry to say. They were out with the Brides sisters now since they moved from this town, the Brides have been over to Miss Seriacks all the time she was in bed they went once a day to take her something. they now take her to church when the Toomeys dont carry her in their car.
