Charge of Assault

Angeline Herndon (F'd) being duly sworn states as follows: that she works for Wm J. Green as a field hand and that on the Fourteenth of June 66 while working in the field with Andrew McKinney & others she and the aforesaid Andrew had some hard words pass between them & then he advanced toward her & struck her in the face with his fist & finally threw her down, and choked her & kicked her twice in the side.

James Pierce (Col) being duly sworn states as follows: that he is acquainted with the parties that he was working in the field at Greens when the parties commenced to quarrel that Deft left his row and went back to her and then the fight commenced, that he saw Deft slap Plff & throw her down & choke & kick her. Plff all the time Defending herself as best she could
