Wrather very stormy & cloudy & high winds

In July 1914 Kire Thurman was chewed uo by a trap on head of Chickaloon & got to a cafin where he wrote a note telling of his condition. Then shot himself. He was alone 30 miles from nearest people.

Otto Bergstrom was chewed up at mile 4 & lost an ear. He was on his way home & was attacked. He never carried a gun, saying that the Lord would protect him. After he said that he must have done something that caused
the protection to be taken off.

Harry Johnson at Victor Cr. (mile 20) He was on way home on a trail carrying a shovel & noticed something moving in the grass ahead of him. He sopped to take a look & was suddenly attacked from behind by a she bear which knocked him down & chewed him a little & then went away a little & sat down watching him. He moved to get up & she renewed the attack chewing him severely. The man became unconscious & finally found the bear had gone. The cub had been in the grass.
