Tale Gunning
By S/SGT. George Goodale
Ferrying Division Headquarter, Cincinnati, Ohio, Feb. 28.--A guy can innocently, and unintentionally, fall into a lot of work in the public relations office around here.
They've got us writing publicity on the new ATC Was recruiting campaign which starts March 1, and we've written so much that we are getting Wac-Wacky around the edges. We may be in that sort of condition all the way through, but as yet we haven't had time to check into it.
We are working with Capt. William Geddings, the PRO for the division, Capt. Lewis Lederer, PRO of the 20th Group from Nashville, and WO (jg) Jimmy Lovell, assistant PRO, a gent who recently became an American citizen by leaving Texas to live in the United States.
This ATC Wac recruiting campaign is going to be a very definite Ferrying Division project, because the ATC has charged the FD with getting the gals to enlist. The ATC needs 5,00 of them desperately, and you can take it from us, because we've heard the orders around here that the FD is not going to leave anything undone to get 'em.
Just in case any of you might get inspired to start rumors, and we know a sergeant at Palm Springs who might find this a great opportunity t start a shipment harangue, don't do it. The Wacs are not coming in to replace you. They're coming in to augment men and Wacs the ATC now has. It just needs more people, and not in slight dribbles.
We feel somewhat pleased about the campaign here because one of the civilian girls in the public relations office, Jean Roberts, a news-writer, ahs already turned in her resignation to enlist in the Wac on the day the drive opens. She's now showing the publicity material to the other femmes in the office, Jean Viel and Virginia Kruse, hoping that they , too, will succumb.
