NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM [[IMAGE]] SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION WASHINGTON D.C. 20560 May 26, 1987 Ms. Ann Wood 15 Eaglehead Manchester, Massachusetts 01944 Dear Ann : By now I hope you will have heard from the archivist concerning your donation to the Museum. There was one item, however, which we have decided not to accession, the lop navigation "computer". We have several in the collection already. Perhaps there is another air museum or local historical society that would be interested in acquiring this object. Many thanks for all of the other material which are useful additions to the archival records. How is your ATA video project coming along? I mentioned your effort to Nonna Cheatham who is organizing a symposium on women in aviation for the Society of Women Geographers. The symposium, which will be held next fall in Washington, is the Society's tribute to Amelia Earhart's famous round-the-world flight attempt. (This summer is the 50th anniversary.) There was a west coast version last string (I give two lectures.), and at the time I thought you might be a good speaker to include at the fall event. I took the liberty of giving your address to Nonna, but for your reference (and if you have any suggestions) her address is 1700 Oakmont Drive, #3 Walnut Creek, California 94595 415-934-7970 In the meantime, I hope all is well. I should be up in New England sometime in August. Sincerely, Debbie Deborah G. Douglas Aeronautics Department
