you will prevent it by means of the forces at your command. 

If however the parties holding the claims on which the executions are to be levied will settle with the Freedmen in full to the time that the sale is made in a manner satisfactory to yourself, then you may cease interference and annul the contract. 

With reference to Mr. Gardners communication under date of August 4th in regard to sale of property now occupied by Freedmen under arrangements made by Mr. Gardner I am directed by Maj Genl Swayne to say that you will prevent any interferences with the freedmen occupying the "School Lot" or any other lot referred to by Mr. Gardner in his letter above mentioned.  Sect. 12 of the Act to continue in force, the Freedmens Bureau authorizes us to take charge of all such property. 

Please make a full report to these Head Quarters of any action that may be taken by you under authority of this letter.

Your communication of the 15th inst in regard to the female inmates of the Home Colony being out of Clothing is received.  It is doubtful if suitable clothing can be furnished for them but if you will forward an estimate of what is actually necessary I will see what can be done.
