General

I have the honor to report the return of a Special Agent sent to Clark County to investigate the recent statements of alleged sale of Freedmen in that County.

I am glad to say that after traversing the greater part of the County meeting with one or two men known for encompassing loyalty, besides Freedmen and the people and Authorities of the County assembled at the opening of Court, he could yet find no one who had heard or thought of anything of the kind.

That County seems to be doing better than the average of the rest although it is very large poor and thinly settled.
