To the Justice of the Peace
Nixburg Beat, Coosa Co. Ala

Sir

The bearer Harry Nolan (Col) makes complaint at this Office, that E.S.C. Parker of Nixburg Beat refuses to pay him the amount of wages due for work performed this year. The contract shows that the complainant was to receive One hundred (100) bushels of corn, rations, clothing & medical attendance, for the services of himself, his wife and boy aged 12 years. He states that he worked seven (7) months at the end of which time his employer turned him off saying that he did not suit him, that during that time, his wife worked six (6) months, and his boy two (2) being wick the remainder of the time. Mr Parker now offers Nolen fifteen (15) bushels of corn in full payment for work done, which from the statement made is evidently an unjust settlement to the laborer. I refer the case to you for adjudication. Enclosed find Copy of late Amendment to the "Stay Law"
