Your communication of the 22" inst asking that rations may be distributed to certain parties in your neighborhood is received.  In reply I have to say that the Government is now furnishing supplies of Corn and Bacon to the Agents of the several counties of the State for distribution to the people, and your application for rations should be made to the Agent of your county whose name you can ascertain through the Probate Judge of the County.

I have the honor to represent that the U.S. Forces at this Post have occupied since or about the 20" day of April 1866, as a camping ground a lot of land in an eligible and healthy location near the State Capitol in this City belonging to Messers J. Kohn & Brother who have hitherto received no rent for the same.  I respectfully recommended that the proper authority be given to pay for the same at the rate of Twelve dollars and a half ($12.50) per month from the date of such occupation, and same may be indefinately retained at the same rate.
