404 Head Quarters Sub Dist of Alabama Montgomery Ala Feb 16" 1867 Shorkley Lieut Geo Supt Selma Ala Lieut Your communication of the 11" inst asking if the Government will continue the issue of rations to the destitute, and stating that there is much destitution in your section, is received. In reply I have to say that a new supply of corn and bacon for issue to the destitute of your District will be forwarded you early in next month. Cols Beecher and Arthur are now in the North making the necessary purchases. Very Respectfully Your obdt servant O.D. Kinsman Supt Head Quarters Sub Dist of Alabama Montgomery Ala Feb 16" 1867 375/405 Shorkley Lieut Geo Supt Selma Ala Lieut I am in receipt this morning of a letter from Judge Busteed written at Mobile on the 14" inst stating that on consultation he finds that of his own accord and without application from the Prosecuting or defending Attorney he has not the right to postpone the sale of the Selma property. The authority asked for will be granted you by an order from this in a few days from now, which will be made to cover similar cases at the different Post and Stations throughout the State.
