Montgomery Ala June 6" 67.

Extract
West Point Ga
June 3d 67

Swayne Maj. Genl.

Sir

While writing on the above allow me to ask your opinion on one subject. Will Confederate transactions be countenanced, or will those who contracted debts during the rebellion in confederate money be compelled to pay them. There are many good industrious hard-working men that are discouraged in the prosecution of their labors from the fact that a large confederate claim hangs over them, under which they cannot rise, but if they had an assurance that the law would not embrace the collection thereof, would feel perfectly free and easy, and the liquidation of all such claims public or private by one blow from your administration would do good.

Very Truly Yours
(Sg'd) James M. Hill Agent.

Jasher Walden (Col'd) who had been living at Union Springs, but at present is in this place, states that Wm. Weldon of Clay Hill, Pike County, about last Christmas, had his two children (Thomas aged 7, and Rachel aged 6 years) bound to him by Judge Siler at May. You will please call the attention of the Probate Judge to this case for his action under G.O. No. 3 - current series - from this office, and report his action thereon.
