Respectfully returned to Mr. T. H. Speed, The Supt at Selma is correct in referring you to the civil law as the proper source of adjudication. The absence of a written lease does not in it self deprive the lessee of his rights. He is according to your statement and the papers able to bring testimony as to having leased the property and this he should do if ejection is threatened.
