Respectfully returned this the office of the Sub Asst Commr at Demopolis Ala.  The within case is not one where Military interference is considered necessary The Civil law affords to every one charged with committing a bartable offence a mode of procuring his liberty.  A writ of Habeas Corpus should be taken out and if the court decide that the prisoner can be bailed a bond can be given for his appearance.  He cannot be pardoned before conviction.

Respectfully returned I have investigated this case & find that the daughter within named is now at work for Mr. D H Dealy at this place  She was last year in the employ of Mr Muckle who was to take her to Ala  She had a child the day before he started and was thus prevented from going Mr Muckle has settled with her for last years work and is under no obligation to her whatever.
