T 58 Continuation of endorsement. on letter from the Treasury Department.
Office Sub Asst Commr Mobile Ala Aug 21st 1867 As no Furniture belonging to the Freedmens Bureau is at the Marine Hospital, and it is supposed that the Military Commandant of the Post would be the proper person to make return of such Furniture as is in charge of purely Mil authority, this paper is respectfully returned for further instructions. It would seem that their is some misapprehension in this matter, and it is perhaps not improper to state that the Marine Hospital has never been in the custody of the Freedmens Bureau.
