Respectfully returned. Miss Atwater did not enter upon the work until about November 1, 1867 and no teachers have been paid for service since Oct 1, 1867. She has never reported to this office and I cannot consider anything due her as salary from the Bureau.

Respectfully returned to J. F. McGogy. Sub Asst Commr. Talladega Ala. Captain Harrison reports as follows. "I attended the Court at the trial of Cunningham and after hearing the evidence of witnesses &c I am of the opinion that the freedmen received justice from the Courts. The said freedmen came to my office and stated that they wished to compromise the matter for a less amount than the Court had decreed"
The action of the Court is satisfactory.
