Sir, 
I have the honor to report, that I am still acting [[strikethrough]] as [[/strikethrough]] in the office, as no one in this place, but Gen Cheatham wishes me to act, till he can obtain someone & send his name to you.

I have sent my report to Col. Wright, as per Letter to him, & trust all is right & as well as I can do.

I am sorry to leave the Freedmen. I hope they will have a person here soon for they need one as much as ever.

I have done what I could and am not in debt, &

I would like to hear from you, in regard to the cause of the Freedmen, and, write me if you please at Farmington N.H. & would like your autograph if nothing more.
 
Good Mr Z the Freedmen here, but on my return if the Missionary he will send me as a Missionary to labor among them.

Pres Mis - could it mean Presbyterian Missionary - I know I had read about that church had sent teachers down south. As the Methodist church did also.
