Capt Clark showed me on my return a bill of sale from Capt Burr dated Oct. 30th 1865. based on an order from Gen Fisk dated Oct 24th. I believe I have the dates right. He claims that as I am not a bonded officer I have no right to control the bales of cotton, & that Gen Fisk had a right to wind up the proceeds of the farms. That Capt Burr had full authority in the matter, and further claims that he is innocent in the matter & wants his crop released, And further complains that your action damages him, as in the transaction
