General:
I am directed by Major Gen. Howard, Commr &c. to inform you that it is his desire that all the conditions of the lease entered into between Capt. Crydenwise, Asst. Supt. &c. and Mr. J. L. Alcorn of the tract of land known as "Green Oaks," near Folkland, Alabama, be carried out by you, and that you assume all the responsibilities under it which would have fallen upon Mr. Conway had he remained in charge of the affairs of freedmen in the vicinity in question.
