Bureau Freedmen,
Selma, Sept. 23d. 1865.

C. Cadle Jr.
Brevt. Col. & A.A.G.

Enclosed is a communication recently addressed to myself from your office, which as soon as practicable, I brought to the notice of the Collector's agent, which he was in the act of dispossessing and claiming rent of Freedmen for the use of government tenements. The endorsement thereon shows the distribution upon which the claim is founded. The Treasury Agt. here tells me that their custodianship does not contemplate real estate at all. I hope the question may be settled speedily as great suffering results from it.
Has anything been accomplished with regard to transportation?
Very Respectfully
