I William Q Smith Commissioner of the District Court of the United States for the Middle District of Ala. hereby Certify that on 10th day of October 1865 at my Office at Selma Ala personally appeared before me J C Graham of the County of Dallas State of Alabama, who being by me duly sworn, took and subscribed before me the following oath.

I do hereby solemnly swear (or affirm) in the presence of Almighty God that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Union of the States hereunder and that I will in like manner abide by and faithfully support all laws and proclamations which have been made during the Existing rebellion with reference to the emancipation of Slaves. So help me God
