McClung, a good & responsible tenant.

Your petition states that she left her residence in Huntsville, for the purpose of taking care of her other property, from which she derived support, under the advice aforesaid, & not for the purpose of giving aid & comfort to the so-called Confederacy. Her purposes were of a personal, & prudential character, in reference to the support of her family, & were not political, nor with any thought of political aim, or effect. She distinctly states, that she never abandoned, nor thought of abanding [[abandoning]] her Huntsville property. So far therefrom, she states, that she not only left her house tenanted, but she also left all her household & kichen [[kitchen]] furniture, & most of the wearing apparrel [[apparel]] of her family.

Further shows, that during the Federal occupation of Huntsville, some property was taken possession of by Capt Allen A.Q.M. of U.S. Army, for military purposes, & has been so used ever since, & is now so used, and occupied.

Your petitioner further shows that on the 10th day of May 1865.
