Sir,
I enclose you certain papers just recd from my Brother, Genl. B. Bragg, who has charge of my Plantation in Lowndes Co., in reference to certain Stock on said Plantation and the proceeding of the Freedmans Bureau relative to the same, to which I must respectfully invite your attention.

I addressed you on this same matter about the 25th Jany last when an attempt was being made by the Bureau to take from me this stock and give it to the negroes. My letter was forwarded to Gen. W. Swayne  by it A.A.G - (you being at the time about) and in due time he returned for answer. That Gen. B. Bragg had called on him and he had confirmed the order of Gen. A. J. Smith Provost Marshal giving me title to the Stock in question. This, I supposed, as did Gen. B, settled the question, and he continued using the stock on the plantation as he, and I had been doing since 15th April 1865.
