Home Colony, Dec 27th 1866.

Brvt Lt Col. Surg. in Chief

Sir
I have the honor to call your attention to the crowded condition of this Hospital at the present time. In my last weekly report (Dec 22nd) I return 118 patients, (18 Males, 55 females, 45 Children). Since then 2 males have died, leaving 116 patients. The buildings and accomodations [[accommodations]] of the Colony, tho amply sufficient for this number during the Summer & Autumn months are inadequate now and consequently considerable suffering exists. Of the 116 patients, 27 are white, 1 male, 16 females, & 10 children. As these are not to be transferred to the new Hospital when completed, I would respectfully suggest, that arrangements be made for their removal at once
I am Sir Very Respectfully
