Dear Sir
Allow me to say to you for the purpose of making it known that I propose to lease (for the culture of cotton, corn and other products) to "Freedmen" for the year 1867.  My Franklin Estate, in lots or farms, each farm containing one hundred and seventy-five acres of cleared land with the benefit of all the improvements on the estate, except those in my yard and garden, and can say, one hundred acres in each lot or farm thus divided and now offered for lease has never yet been under water, which you know is the first thing to consider in leasing lands in the Mississippi bottoms. The improvements on the Estate are a new Gin house with forty horse power engine, new Grist mill, cotton press, Gin stands, a large Barn nearly finished, quarters for 80 laborers, cisterns enough for the place. Grass lots for the stock.  I will take one-third gross of what each squad of ten or twelve good laborers and six good mules
