It is represented to me that there is at this time confined in the County Jail at Linden Ala. a Freedman by name of John Hennesey who is subject to periodical fits of insanity occurring once in two or three months, at which times he is very dangerous, attacking men, women and children with great fury.  And to prevent his doing harm he is now confined in jail.

Believing that his present place of confinement is not suitable for one in his situation, I would respectfully request that you confer with Gov Patton
