General Enclosed I send you copy of a deed which the RR Co propose to give for the purpose of building a School House and church for Freedmen. The location is good and there is a good Govt building on the lot that will make quarters for teachers, also a fine cistern. I have money enough subscribed to buy the land but Genl. Hardee, Pres. of the RR proposes to give me the land for a Government building at Macon Station valued at two Hundred (200) dollars, which I would consider a good bargain. A Mr. Richard Knott at Selma claiming to be a Treasury agent proposed to sell Genl Hardee the above building. Also one at Uniontown and one at this place. If I
