If you knew this community, General as I do, you would soon learn, how little the professions of those who pretend to so much charity and who do so much to disclose defaults of the United States Government officers;  are to be relied on. I have been impressed so much with your praise, for kindness of heart and generous sympathies with every claim to commisseration; that I do not hesitate to write to you, as I feel.
I hope you will relieve Mr Monroe from every anxiety, on the subject; and I beg to assure you, that your consideration can be given to no young gentleman, more worthy of confidence and respect.
