I have the honor to forward the enclosed statements relative to the shooting of Sam. Lucius a freedman at Phillips Distillery eighteen or twenty miles from this city towards Eutaw.

I saw Sam Lucius at the time when the shot was still in his arm and side, and send you all the evidence I have been able to get in the case.
