children, without regard to color, will be received. Let Your Agent or myself, if you please, be authorized to separate the blacks from the whites and assign one teacher to each. In this way prejudices will be kept down, difficulties between the two races prevented, and much good in future be effected. A rising generation, saved from crime will bless your memory.

Capt. Mc'Gogy being as is understood relieved from this post I have taken the liberty to address myself immediately to you. I originated in this state, the first idea of common schools, and know of nothing so dear to my wishes, as to carry out this enterprise.
