Dear Sir
I find that Capt Davis in charge of Military Post in this (Conecuh) County has approved of a number of contracts between the Farmers & Freedmen and I suppose has coppies [[copies]] filed in his office; Is it necessary for the contracts to be filed at our office if so shall I return my contracts as approved to him; I find some cases where the children under age have made contracts without the knowledge of the parrent [[parent]] and thereby leaving them Indigent and parties refusing to give up the children.
What action shall I take to correct the evil; Is the military at my controll to correct the error or must I rely on the civil authorities (contracts have not been approved) We had a meeting of our Agricultural Association since I saw you and fear from the reports of the Executive Committee [[strikethrough]] there [[/strikethrough]] there will be a large
