This Indenture made the 1st day of January 1866 between Noble & Brother of the city of Montgomery of the first part, and Brevet Maj Genl Wager Swayne, Assistant Com-Commissioner of the Bureau of Freeman and Abandoned Lands, in behalf of the United States of America party of the second part, witnesseth,
That, the said part of the first part, hereby leases & lets to the said party of the second part, All of the second story and the two front, and the two rear rooms of the third story of the building known as the "Madison House" situated on the corner of Marker and Perry Streets in the City of Montgomery and State of Alabama, together with the second story of the small Brick Building in the rear of the "Madison House" for the term of ten months, commencing on the first day of December 1865 and ending on the first day of October 1866, at the rate of twenty five hundred dollars per annum, payable monthly.
