the said Hays to have his indentures revoked, and take these children off, without security that they would be amply provided for.

I believe Judge Starke is taking a great interest in the welfare of these freedmen, doing in the premises what he believes to be justice, both to the negro and white man. Whenever he thinks the negro able to provide for himself he refuses to bind them, and when they are unable to support themselves &c. He binds them out to good and humane men &c.

You will please write me a note by the bearer indicating the proper course to be pursued &c. as references as to my-self. I will refer you to A.M Worthy Dr John G Moore, representatives of the Legislature & the Hon Jno B Taylor of Montgomery
